Abstract

The mango is an original species of India, being now distributed for practically all of the tropical areas of the world, besides being cultivated commercially in some areas of subtropical climate. The interest for the culture is due the excellence of that their fruits, besides presenting exotic flavor; they are rich in vitamins and mineral salts, being the mango one of the fruits richest in vitamin A. For the eating qualities and nutritious of the mango and as the privileged situation, mainly to the climate, Brazil could conquer the world market of this fruit. However, few studies exist in our Country, regarding storage technologies, as well as to the aspects physical, physiologic and biochemical of the ripening process with the use of exogenous ethylene in the postharvest, that they allow the obtaining of quality fruits and augment of the mango shelf life. The present research project has as objective determines the answers physical, physiologic and biochemistries associated to the techniques of application exogenous ethylene in the postharvest fruits. The project consists of four experiments, us which they will be appraised: different ripening temperatures with ethylene application; different concentrations of ethylene application; different times of ethylene application and use of refrigerated storage and exogenous ethylene, seeking to obtain quality fruits and to augment the storage period and mango shelf life.
