Abstract

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease with a worldwide distribution; it is caused by spirochetes of the genus Leptospira. Infection in domestic animals causes important economic losses by weigh reduction, low Milk production, reproductive disorders and death. In view of small number of studies evaluating the sensibility of Leptospiras spp. to antimicrobials used in veterinary medicine, the present project intend standardize broth macrodilution and microdilution methods to determine minimal inhibitory concentration of six antimicrobials frequently used in pets and livestock animals. Will be evaluated resistance profile of four Leptospira interrogans strains from serovars Pomona, Hardjo, Icterohemorrageae and Canícola, the techniques will be compared as the agreement and reproducibility of results. The data obtained from this reference strains will indicate which method will be used in future studies to determine the sensibility profile of bacterial zoonosis laboratory collection with a more extensive antimicrobial panel more complete and wide.
