Abstract

Information theory deals with the theoretical limits of communication. In the point to point communication, the channel capacity is the metric that indicates the maximum achievable rate that can be attained. In the point to multipoint scenario, that is, in the downlink or uplink cases, the channel capacity notion is extended to the capacity region notion. The border of this region indicates what is the maximum rate that all the user s can achieve. Using this region it is possible to evaluate the efficiency of the multiple access methods. This project aims to study these channel and intends to unveil capacity regions for some cases still not addressed in the literature.
