Abstract

The objective of this project is to analyze the performance of a transmission line model where the line is represented through a cascade of PI circuits. This model is developed starting from the hypothesis that the distributed parameters of the line can be approximated by discreet element of circuits . The performance of the cascade of PI circuits will be done by comparing this model with a Universal Line Model. The Universal Line model is developed taking into account the distributed parameters of the line and the frequency effect. In the Universal Line Model the currents and voltages are initially calculated in the frequency domain and after that they are converted to time domain by using Inverse Laplace transform. By comparing the cascade of PI circuits and Universal Line Model will be possible to know the situations where the cascade of PI circuits can be used to represent a single-phase line.
