Abstract

The present research, of theoretical nature, intends to investigate the possibilities of conceiving the education as an art, and as a way of resistance against both the instrumental rationality and the non-reflective attitude embodied in the teaching activity. Therefore, I appeal to the workmanship of Theodor W. Adorno, especially his conferences on education and his aesthetic theory. I do so in order to argue about the possible correspondences between, from one hand, the process of artistic production and reception and, from another hand, the communicative process that conceives the pedagogical relation, by focusing on which would be the aesthetic dimension of the educational activity and how its problems could be objects of the reflection of the educator. Although Adorno has not thought about the problem of this project, I intend, through the method of hermeneutic interpretation, to ask to his work this problematic I stated, following the tracks, contained in its workman ships, that approach to this issue. Facing this, I will argue if the art of teaching, in its process of production, promotes a true aesthetic experience, delineating this dimension of the educative activity and the problems regarding the objects of the philosophical reflection of the artist-educator.
