Abstract

The digital images number exponentially increased in the present, and there is no provision of a specific system for image description and retrieval that contemplates the Librarianship's logic of description and within the standards of images authorship and use. The absence of a description standard causes difficulty in the search, access and retrieval of informational resources, in the case, imagistic resources processes, interfering in their use and reuse. The project is characterized by searching in the cataloguing discipline, and in the international rules, guidelines for bibliographic description and for the construction of digital image forms of representation. The study will be descriptive and exploratory. The methodology is guided by documentary and empirical research. It is expect as results, to find in the use of information and communication technology, important tools for the construction of a digital images description scheme, covering the descriptive logic, already defined by the informational resources traditional area.
