Abstract

There are several applications of GPS in Brazil, as well as all over the world. With the approval of the Law 10267/2001, which, among other dispositions established the accuracy required for the Georeferencing of land parcels, new opportunities are open for using GPS. But its use has to be consistent and reliable. However, we understand that the results from most of commercial softwares for GPS data processing do not allow a reliable assessment of the results. Position Constraints, for example, always are given as fixed, resulting in a very optimist accuracy. Adopting a few additional analyses, jointly to the implementation of a piece of software for such aim, may reduce the problem. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to investigate and to implement extra algorithms to the commercial softwares of GPS data processing and adjustment in order to provide reliable results to attend the requests of the Law.
