Abstract

An isolated power system composed of a set of loads and distinct generators can be modelled as an electrical microgrid. Microgrid studies shall take in account comprehensive analysis on the global performance of such grids, regarding the energy efficiency and rationality, the optimum distribution of generation, system control and protection as well as energy storage systems. In such way, a hybrid sourced system is obtained. Among the general objectives is the evaluation of microsystems fed with direct and alternating current sources. Among the specific objectives is the development of a computing program for dimensioning and location of sources in a microgrid. Also, control strategies to reduce operating costs and to guarantee a desired power quality with low losses must be implemented. (AU)
