Abstract

The trend in the development of physical systems for information processing has been approaching the realm of Quantum Mechanics. There are potential benefits in the use of quantum tools for processing, storing, and communicating information. The goal of this project is to introduce the student to this exciting field of research. Her proposed activities should get her acquainted with concepts, methods, and experimental techniques that are the basis of our research. Her work will be integrated in our effort to produce and exploit entanglement among bright beams of light of different wavelengths and in the prospects of their interaction with atomic systems.
