Abstract

The current project intends the study and analysis of Dan Graham´s artistic and theoretical production. This includes the construction of concepts, the aims that guided his production, as well as its meanings, especially those attributed by who appreciate his work.Having studied architecture, Graham started his career in the 1960´s already presenting some of the questions that would be the core of his production. He has a great volume of work, and in many diversified supports. From "Homes for America" (1966) to his recent works as the glass pavilions (1980 to 2000), the artist developed a production close to the Conceptual Art and dealing with questions related to perception, the construction of subjectivity, the behavior in public spaces, the city, the architecture and specifically to the field of art. His production arises great interest, once it promotes a confluence of knowledge proceeding from distinct disciplinary fields. It offers another comprehension of proper contemporary architecture and urbanism themes: the analysis of his production allows focus upon external issues regarding the field of art as well as to its specific ones.
