Abstract A new linear inversion method of geoid anomalies will be developed using the equivalent layer theorem, aiming to estimate the density distribution in a flat medium. Efficiency tests will be carried out using synthetic examples and comparing the results with 3-D linear inversion of geoid anomalies using rectangular prims parametrization and functional minimization which incorporates relative and absolute constraints already tested and implemented.
