Abstract

Belonging to the Euphorbiacea family, Jatropha curcas L. is a plant with many attributes, multiple uses and considerable potential. Its use as raw material for the bio-fuel production, it has been discussed thoroughly and appraised, for assisting some of the basic premises of the National Program of Production and Use of Bio-fuel, how to present a favorable energy balance, an efficient use of the soil, the generation of jobs, the social inclusion and the quality of life. The present research project has as objectives to characterize the agronomic and botanic of the plant of Jatropha curcas, to study the production of seedlings, and to evaluate the crop management, mainly in terms of space arrangements objecting the maxim agricultural productivity, concomitantly the high quality of oil.
