Abstract

The canine cutaneous mast cell tumor is a common neoplasia in the small animal practice with great importance mainly because of its high frequency, aggressive clinical behavior and difficult surgery excision with safe borders. In the veterinary hospital of FMVZ-UNESP, Campus de Botucatu - SP, in the past three years 93 cases of this cutaneous neoplasia were diagnosised by cytological examination (2003: 3,93%, 26/660; 2004: 4,25%, 44/1035; 2005/november: 3,06%, 23/750). Therefore the need of studies for new approches of diagnostics, prognostics and therapeutical conducts. In order to create subsidies for chemotherapy protocols with non steroids anti-inflammatory drugs, the immunolable of p53 and COX-2 in the mast cell tumors will be correlated with the histopathological grading. The retrospective study will be done based on the register books of the veterinary pathological service in the FMVZ UNESP- Botucatu, for the selection of cases with confirmed cutaneus mast cell tumor, in a total of 10 cases for each histopathological grade (grade I, II, III). The cases will be selected after confirmed the diagnostic of mast cell tumor, being only used cases with no treatment other that surgery excision, avoiding therefore the influence of anti-inflammatory drugs
