Abstract

The balance is a complex automatic unconscious integration of the various body systems and refers to the ability to keep the center of gravity on the support base, generally when the individual is standing. However, the scientific literature shows lack of jobs similar to this, and is still controversial with regard to the difference in body sway between men and women. This study aims to examine both the balance and muscle function in men and women sedentary and active 20 to 30 years. Will be used: a 16 EMG channel to check the pattern of muscle activation and a force platform (EMG System of Brazil) to assess the magnitude and the speed of anteroposterior and mediolateral center of pressure (COP) in task of sit to stand test and while standing on a hard and unstable surface with eyes open and eyes closed. The muscles will be evaluated vastus lateralis (VL), biceps femoris (BF), tibialis anterior (TA) and medial gastrocnemius (GM), bilaterally. Volunteers will be classified as sedentary and active according the International Physical Activity Questionnaire - IPAQ - short version. The objective of this work is understanding the influence of gender on the balance and the muscle function in standing and in the act of sitting and rising of chair. We intend to observe if the difference between gender is similar in sedentary and active younger. (AU)
