Abstract

Summary: Twenty five nelore steers will be used to determine the effect of two copper level and two copper sources (organic and inorganic) on ruminal fermentation and oxidative stability of Longissimus dorsi muscle. Treatments are: 1) Control - no supplemental Cu; 2) Cu - 10 mg/Kg DM (as Cu sulfate); 3) Cu - 10mg/Kg DM (as Cu proteinate); 4) Cu - 30 mg/Kg DM (as Cu sulfate); 5) Cu - 30 mg/Kg DM (as Cu proteinate). The statistical design will be in blocks by body weight and liver copper levels. The VFAs, ammonium nitrogen, ruminal pH and malonaldeide in muscle and liver levels will be analyzed by Proc. GLM of SAS, at the level of 5% of significance.
