Abstract

In order to prevent the occurrence of injuries of epidermal and dermal laminae of the hooves of horses going to be evaluated the expression of Toll-like receptor 4, the effects of overload of carbohydrates (SCHO), as well as the use of heparin in the laminitis prodromal phase. Will be used samples of the interface of epidermal and dermal laminae of the hooves of three groups of five adult horses previously used in experimental study on laminite induced by carbohydrate. The distribution of samples follow the protocol used in the work mentioned which were distributed: Control Group: Formed by horses healthy, which received no overload of carbohydrate and that for reasons of economic or humanitarian were submitted to euthanasia; Laminite Group: Constituted by horses underwent fasting 12 hours that received through stomach tube, 17.6 g / kg of corn starch (Maizena ®), diluted 1:1 in aqueous solution, for induction of laminitis. These animals didn't receive any treatment; Group Laminite + Heparin: The animals of this group received the starch in the quantity and dilution similar to the group earlier. By completing 24 hours of the administration of carbohydrate, the horses received, 100 IU of heparin sodium / kg, intravenously, every 8 hours to complete is 48 hours. The analyses going to be released with the light microscopy, immunohistochemical and electron microscopy, allowing to evaluate whether changes in epidermal and dermal laminae of horses healthy and with laminitis, treated or not treated with heparin, and allowing to evaluate of the expression of Toll-like 4 present in the basal cells and / or the basement membrane.
