Abstract

Surface electromyography (EMG) has consistently been a tool used by dentists, doctors, clinicians and researchers to evaluate the electrical activity of muscle and its function, in order to observe the different changes in the pattern caused by muscle tissue dysfunctions and pathologies shouts and hard, with existing voluntary skeletal dental malocclusion. This study will compare the electromyographic recordings of the anterior temporal muscle and masseter muscle in healthy people with malocclusion Class I, II and III, and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) with the volunteers with Angle Class I occlusion without TMD by assessing the presence or absence of signs and symptoms of TMD, sorted by Axis I and II Research Diagnostic Criteria (RDC / TMD). In this study, 40 volunteers will participate in female and male between ages 18 and 36 years. Volunteers will be submitted to the parameters of the questionnaire RDC axis I and II and electromyographic examination of the anterior temporal muscle and masseter muscle both at rest mandibular bilateral chewing and maximum intercuspation, which will be evaluated in three different sections. The equipment used will be the electromyograph Myosystem BR-1 ® Datahominis Tecnologia Ltda.
