Abstract

The main goal of this project is to examine the existence of the Super 301, during 1989-1990, one of the most important mechanisms of trade defense in the United States, restrained in Section 301 of the US trade law. In particular, we will examine Super 301 and its practical effects in dealing with the export barriers against US products during the late 1980s and early 1990s, seeking to comprehend the interaction of ideas and institutions, and the effects of these variables in the transition toward aggressive unilateralism in the United States trade policy.
