Abstract

This scientific initiation proposal is related to two Fapesp research projects in Thermal and Fluids Engineering Centre - NETeF: “Tomography of Multiphase Flows by Electrical Sensing - Development of Parallel Genetic Algorithms for the Solution of the Inverse Problem” (Proc. 03/12537-7) and “Non-Intrusive Measurement of the Local Convection Coefficient in Forced Flows” (Proc. 04/15185-7). The main objective of this proposal is to contribute to the development of a specialized method for the solution of the linear system of equation related with the tomographic problem. This is of fundamental importance to the success of this technique since, according to the scientific literature, the computational performance is still insufficient for its application in practical engineering problems. In specific, a direct and an iterative solution method will be studied in this work. They are the Singular Value Decomposition and the Preconditioned Biconjugate Gradient Method, respectively.
