Abstract

This scientific initiation proposal is related to two FAPESP regular research projects in course at the Thermal and Fluids Engineering Centre - NETeF: “Modeling and Experimentation in liquid-liquid and gas-liquid-liquid flows” (Proc. 2004/13374-7) and “Instrumentation and Control of Industrial Multiphase Flows” (Proc. 03/13819-6). The main objective of this proposal is the development of an instrumental network based on the CAN protocol (Controller Area Network), capable of integrating the signals from sensors and actuators, as well as processing the corresponding control algorithms and event data logging. The choice of CAN is based on the fact that it is an extremely robust and open protocol, besides being very adequate for the automatization of small and medium complexity processes.
