The "caipira" dialect in the contemporaneity of São Paulo: disappearance or discharacterization?

Abstract

This project, taking as starting point the studies of Amadeu Amaral (1920), will study the evolution of the "caipira" dialect, adopting for this a comparative method. On this way, will be mobilized pertinent aspects of the "caipira" by Amaral and they will by analyzed joined with informations of the 21th century. The research is justify because in 1920, Amaral sustained the conviction that this dialect was predestined to disappearence. As methodolo­gical focus the adverbs, described by Amaral (1920) as typically "caipiras", will be analyzed. In this manner, linguistics uses that previously were considerate typically "caipiras" will be observed with the objective to describe their functionality in the geographic space of collect of informations from 1920 (Capivari) now in 2010.To undertake this research will be indispensable to discuss traces of identity and causes that provoke changes at the linguistic attitude. The newness of this research will be the analyses of the grammatical change and the alterations that the grammatical change can provoke. For this analysis will be used the pretexts of the grammatical change associated to pretexts of sociolinguistic. (AU)
