In vitro study of the protective effect of commercial toothpaste on dental erosion associated or not to abrasion in bovine enamel

Abstract

The objective of this study will be to investigate the protective effect of the commercial dentifrice Sensodyne Pro-Esmalte® in the erosion associated or not with the abrasion of the bovine enamel. In is about a cycling model vitro, in which specimens will be divided in groups: experimental - E (Sensodyne Pro-Esmalte®), positive control - CP (Sensodyne convencional®) and negative control - CN (water). Each group will be divided in two sub-groups: erosion (er) and erosion associated with the abrasion (er abr). 120 bovine enamel blocks (4X4 mm) polishing and standardized for the superficial microhardness will be submitted four regimes of demineralization (10 min each) provoked by a cooling type glue. Each demineralization will be followed of remineralization in artificial saliva (1 hour). Before the remineralization, in accordance with the group, the blocks will be immersed in solution of the tested dentifrice (3 g dentifrice/10mL water) or water. Depending on the sub-group, the abrasion will be carried through by electric brushing (30 s in each block), contends 0,5 g of its respective dentifrice or water. The consuming (µm) by means of profilometer will be analyzed and the data will be analyzed by ANOVA the two criteria and test of Tukey with p<0,05. (AU)
