Abstract

There are many discussions about information science education, including student profile, learning methods and contents, but the professor profile is not present in these debates. Considering the deficiency of studies concerning professor profile in the information science field in Brazil, the present project has three objectives: 1 to characterize the professor profile of the information science undergraduation courses of the Brazilian public universities; 2 to understand the concept of interdisciplinarity presented in national and international literature, considering its relation with the professor profile in information science undergraduation courses; 3 to produce a synthesis of the interdisciplinarity situation in the information science undergraduation courses of the Brazilian public universities, with emphasis in the professor profile. The project use quantitative and qualitative methodological options, including: quantitative and exhaustive characterization of the professor profile of the information science undergraduation courses of the Brazilian public universities, using the Lattes Platform and the institutional sites of the courses to collect information; selective literature review, using pertinent academic and scientific databases, to clarify the interdisciplinarity concepts; conceptual systematization of the interdisciplinarity to explain the professor profile of the information sciences courses in Brazilian public universities.
