Abstract Dental implants have been the first choice to prosthetic rehabilitation of the masticatory system, since dental implants allow adequately recovering of masticatory function, esthetic and phonetics. Furthermore, dental implants are coming more feasible to the entire population, since its costs are decreasing. There are various types of implant supported prosthesis, as overdentures, removable partial dentures, fixed bridges and single crowns. This diversity of prosthetic systems should allow patients to have diverse expectative about prosthetic therapy's results. Patients' expectative influence patients' based perception of prosthetic therapy results, and patient's based results have main importance to the overall success of the therapy. Considering these points and instead of various benefits of dental implants based therapies, Implant Dentistry is the dental specialty that presents the highest number of judicial processes. This project aims to compare the expectative before and satisfaction after treatment among patients receiving implant supported single crowns and fixed bridges. The sample will be composed of 50 patients that will receive implant supported single crowns and fixed bridges in the Dental Clinic of the University of Vale do Paraíba (n=50). This sample will present a sample power of 74.24% (Minitab), with a sampling error of 13%. Metal-ceramic, implant supported single crowns and fixed bridges will be done following a standardized technique. To evaluate expectative before and satisfaction after therapy, an analogue visual scale (AVS), presenting numbers ranging from 0 (worst results) to 10 (best results) will be used. The variables gender, age, edentulous area, number of post-delivery adjustments and mode of retention (screwed or cemented) will also be noted. There was also created a questionnaire, using a Lickert scale, aiming to evaluate patients satisfaction about their dentists/patients relationships. | |
