Abstract

In the NTS or in the paratrigeminal nucleus of conscious normotensive (NWR) or hypertensive rats (SHR), bradykinin induces a pressor effect through the stimulation of B2 receptors, and the SHR showed a increased sensibility to BK and almost a doubled density of B2 receptor expression in these nuclei. The B I receptor is generally under expressed in normal conditions. The objective of this work is to determine the localization, characterization and quantification of kinin receptors in the brainstem of healthy and hypertensive human, giving substrates for a better understanding of the involvement of both kinin receptors in central cardiovascular regulation in the human species.
