Abstract | |
Considering the relationship between History and Literature, this research proposes viewing the writing process as part of the construction of fiction, and as mediator in this relationship.During the 1960s, the writings of João Guimarães Rosa started changing, if compared to what had been published until then. He began to write shorter texts, with more succinct language, which he named Estórias (stories). Being very short narratives, quite similar to anecdotes, the Estórias directly oppose the grand narrative of History. In the Estórias, the notions of time and direction offered by Historiography are always questioned, through their proximity with themes that are essentially opposed to a linear perspective, such as childhood. To reflect upon this, and get in touch Rosas writing process, as well as his publications, such as some selected Estórias and some letters with drawings that he exchanged with his granddaughter Vera Ooó (who was a child at the time), we consulted the content of archives from IEB and Fundação Casa Rui Barbosa. A special part of this material are Rosa\'s handwritten notebooks, that allow us to visualize traces of the connection between childhood and History in his work, and where we can find several references to childhood and the special way in which children deal with language (AU) | |
