Abstract

This work aims to contribute to the development of methods for obtaining the operating conditions of electrical power networks from the point of view of voltage stability both in operation planning and real-time operation. In this work this objective is achieved by using a procedure based on the power flow with step size optimization, which is of great interest for the real time operation due to its computational efficiency. Additionally, it is proposed that the initialization of such procedure be done by a circuit decomposition technique presented recently named as Channel Components Transform. It consists of decomposing a large power network into a set of simple source-branch-load circuits. It is shown that by monitoring a small number of these simple circuits one can monitor the behavior of the actual power system. The performance of this proposal is evaluated through simulations involving test systems (AU)
