Abstract

This research was aimed to identify the educational activities of the Brazilian Cinematheque, specifically regarding the activities of the Department of Children and Youth Film. The time frame chosen, between 1954 and 1966, includes the creation of the Department of Children and Youth Film, which at the time was in an intense action at the educational field, headed by the poet and teacher Ilka Brunhilde Laurito. To this end, we sought to examine the literature on the educational film archives and the Brazilian Cinematheque, as well as official documents of the Department of Children and Youth Film. It was also analyzed the news published by the newspapers O Estado de S. Paulo, Correio Paulistano and Diário do Povo that dealt with the topic at the period in question (AU)
