Aiming to assign the construction of guidance \"modern\" national character, it was commissioned various works of art, including a collection of sculptures, produced between 1937 and 1941, by Celso Antônio de Menezes, Adriana Janacópulos and Bruno Giorgi. By analyzing these sculptures, this work investigates the attempts to figure the ideal of the \"new man\" undertaken by politicians, intellectuals and artists connected to the Ministry. We seek to understand what that works, as sources, might reveal about the discourses about race, gender and nation in the period. (AU) | |
