Abstract

This research discusses the intersection among aging, memory and homosexual conduct in two small and medium-sized towns in Mato Grosso do Sul¿s Pantanal, in the vicinity of the border with Bolivia. The universe of collocutors consists of a wide range of people with homosexual conduct, between 52 and 82 years, who belong to different social groups. Through a qualitative methodology, involving the observation of situations, semi-structured interviews and informal conversations, we tried to analyze trajectories, course of life, sociological profile and other characteristic of these subjects. It describes, in this way, the complex engineering in building not only the relations but also the practices between the people with homosexual conduct that both create or tense markers of social difference. Among the main results obtained it is the discussion on temporalities from the contrast between past and present experiences; about visibility schemes which subjects are dialoguing with; also on how the course of life, particularly youth, aging and old age may be represented and experienced in distant urban contexts from big cities (AU)
