Abstract

Physical education finds itself inserted in discourses building representations of normal behavior. Having a body that is different from instituted beauty standards, not conforming to "appropriate" social behavior for your gender, transgressing the system which dictates a casual and orderly relationship between the sexes, genders and sexuality are markers which denounce "differences" during Physical Education classes at school. Based on the input of the queer theory, and on studies made in Brazil, we sought to establish connections between our data and the Spanish queer theory. Notwithstanding the Spanish production, which criticizes the American model and values the intersecting of LGBTTTI social movements and academic productions, is gaining visibility in Latin America, its approximations to the area of Brazilian education is still reticent. The research will be made with gay youth between 18 and 25 who study Physical Education in the Spanish educational system, and attend areas of LGBTTTI socialization. Through semi-structured interviews, we intendo to analyze reports about possible indicators of discrimination during Physical Education class, along with possible indicators of resistence used to represent themselves on school grounds. This study could contribute to a comparative analysis between Brazil and Spain relating to social markers which build gender and sexual differences. It will also permit us to analyze how far the vast Spanish queer production is assimilated by the schools in this country, and what impact this knowledge causes in Education. (AU)
