Abstract

Included in the theoretical enunciative perspective of Semantics of Event, in a dialog with the Discourse Analysis of French parentage, with the the lexicon disciplines, in Linguistics, and with the social theories, in Political Science, we have proposed, in this study, to conduct a study on the meanings of the name brasiguaio/brasiguayo. In view the land conflict set up between 2011 and 2012 involving the so-called brasiguaios/brasiguayos and campesinos paraguayans, we are interested, by the semantics instability of the name, in their processes of complete rewrite driven/resume, the way the name integrates journalistic texts in Brazil (News Portal of the Brazilian Senate, Gazeta do Povo Online, Zero Hour Online) and Paraguay (La Nación, ABC Color, Hoy), directly linked or not to the State, in the case of Brazil. We start from a name divided between the interpretation that involves a dual nationality and that deprives individuals appointed by the name of any nationality. From there, we seek to investigate the meanings of 'national' in the argumentative functioning of the name, and other senses, in addition to the nationality, that mobilize in the land conflict, from which the name has been created and is being used in their divisions. We observe the designative operation of the name by the complete rewrite driven of the name in the texts; by the enunciative freight, we tried to understand the argumentative relations from the name brasiguaio/brasiguayo, in other words., the directiveness in say by the operation of the language supported by the interdiscourse. We observe the operation of the name in the enunciative scene of the texts from the media of Paraguay and Brazil, and seek to understand their modes of belonging in the space of enunciation of South America, in clashes between its entry in the portuguese language of Brazil and the spanish of Paraguay. In this way, the study pointed out that the name brasiguaio/brasiguayo enters within the divisions of the real appointing: a) a relationship between land and territory; b) statements of belonging to a divided nationality (brazilian and/or paraguayan) who plays necessarily with the senses of denial of dual nationality that the name expects as possible interpretation; c) the economic argument as strong element in the defense of the subjects called brasiguaios/brasiguayos in situation of the conflict established in Paraguay. The name sets up both as an element that operates in the defense of subjects who appoints, as in its delegitimization. The economic argument holds, in the newspapers of both countries, an increased tendency to the defense of these subjects, which are not homogeneous, since there are small farmers and large landowners, but which are homogenized by the name in the game between the description and argumentation (AU)
