Abstract

Aby Warburg is one of the most important art historians of his generation. Currently his work is seen as an important theoretical and methodological framework. The center of his research was the survival of pagan antiquity in the Renaissance. This dissertation approached Warburg¿s work with the focus on his early writings, in which the Renaissance in Florence appears as the main theme. The interconnection of Warburg and his historical time guided our reading of his method, an art history based on the close relationship between word and image (AU)
