Abstract

This dissertation develops an analysis of the processes by which film productions - both documentary and fiction - made between 1910 and 1950 by explorers and American and European filmmakers, created a set of images through which Amazon was exposed and presented. From the concept of editing and found footage, not only as a film operation, but also as a theoretical operation that creates tension between the history and its idea of temporal continuity. It is proposed to disassemble, dissociate and fragment films and images to produce in them, and through them, other powers, that dislocate images of its ethnographic representation to which they are identified. It tries to extract from them the ways in which the thoughts are afected by cinema, history and otherness (AU)
