Abstract

The thesis investigates the public participation of the intellectual Oscar Castello Branco Clark (1890-1948) in school medicine in Rio de Janeiro between the years of 1916 and 1939. The doctor acted with the services of school medical inspection of the city defending the practice of treatment of the Students through clinical institutions. The study investigates the historicity of the actions of school health, demonstrating its forms of action, scope, medical conceptions in disputes and the course of ideas that allowed the creation between the years of 1930 and 1939, of two institutions that had as objective to act in health Taking care of the integrality of the sickly cases among the students of the public schools of the city of Rio de Janeiro: The School Clinic and the Hospital School (AU)
