Abstract

The notion of individuation is the object of debates, redefinitions and studies on several fields of knowledge. This thesis is intended to develop the concept of individual as it emerges in certain philosophies willing to advance on the problematic of life. The analyzes of the notion of individuation by Henri Bergson, Gilbert Simondon and Gilles Deleuze will be observed. Firstly, we will circumscribe the transformations brought on by the intersection between philosophy and science with respect to the definition of the living. At this point, Bergson's contribution is seminal to promote a philosophical debate around life. The Bergsonism plays a key role in shifting the conceptions of modern materialism and the models of man-machine, and the vitalism that opposes vital energy to matter. The course of the research adopts a way that does not intend a comparison of the notion of individuation among in the authors. We seek to explore the densities of this notion in each philosophy in order to assimilate the transformations of the conception of individual which may be capable respond to a reorientation of the philosophical thinking about life on the ethic and biopolitics implications (AU)
