Abstract

Between 1956 and 1961, Muniz Falcão ruled Alagoas and it was characterized for being the only governor of the democratic interval (1945-1964) with some connection with the getulismo and close to the working class (Muniz initiated his public life at Work¿s Regional Delegacy - DRT) in the state. Given this context, this thesis intends to investigate the textile workers of Maceió, Alagoas¿s capital, during this period. To that objective, 1955 electoral process and some aspects of its management, especially those aimed at the workers, with the work at the DRT, the main link between state and class, are analyzed. In addition, the labor movement and textile trade unionism are also discussed, and we look to the textile world through some indispensable elements such as housing, access to health care, welfare and surveillance (AU)
