Abstract

The classification of food as edible permeates power, hygiene, health, status and class relations. Thus, the aim of this text is to analize the food¿s life path and its classification as edible. Throughout the analytical category of the `rotten¿ as a concept that allows me to think about the variables involved in the food classification in relation to the people¿s classification I devoloped a ethnography of some food in the city of São Paulo, at an open market and in the project Mesa Brasil, aiming to comprehend the perversity of the sentence "you are what you eat (AU)
