Abstract

Despite the advancements in the legislation regarding the rights to public basic education access in Brazil starting with the approval of the Federal Constitution of 1988 and, later, the approval of the Guidelines and Bases for the National Education Law (LDB, Law 9.394/1996), the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Fundamental Education and Teacher Valorization (FUNDEF, Law 9.424/1996), and the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and Teacher Valorization (FUNDEB, Law 11.494/2007), it is still noticeable that strong disparities exist in educational offering conditions, being also noticeable the difference in the values per student among the Brazilian states. This work analyzes whether these inequalities occur in the same education system, within the municipal schools of Ribeirão Preto, based in the equity principle. (AU)
