Abstract

The past decade has been marked by important changes in the entrance of trans* people in higher education. Although such actions are coated with fragilities, in addition to maintaining close interdependence with measures to guarantee their presence, they delimit a new scenario: the first trans* people using the "social name" Brazilian policy [nome social] in their exams to enter higher education are now finishing their courses, some of them are following an academic career, and several Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in the country extend their affirmative action to trans* people. The research seeks to consider the issues of access and permanence of trans* students in Brazilian public higher education, observing, from an intersectional perspective, political, epistemological and affective dynamics in the transitions of such bodies and histories between state, academic and activist networks. Thus, it seeks to be attentive to a) the mapping and historicity of these legal paths and their practical peculiarities, considering their nuances and folds; b) the strategies of individual and collective agency, both in the university in its internal multiplicity and its insertion in broader networks, given its limits and challenges and c) the categories and debates mobilized in the stories of trans* students in their daily life within (and beyond) this space. To this end, this ethnography intends to articulate documental and quantitative analysis, interviews with Undergraduate and Graduate students and observation at events organized by/for trans people* (AU)
