The image of the good text in discourse about an essay in entrance exams: a dialogical analysis of the discourse

Abstract

Theoretically and methodologically based on the writings of Bakhtin and his Circle, this research investigates what is configured as the image - representation - of a “good text” in entrance exams, using the commented tests of writing and correction grid as the corpus (2015, 2016, and 2017), respectively, of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), the State University of Londrina (UEL) and the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). In a second step, from the collation methodology (BAKHTIN, 2000), it was analyzed whether the images (regarding the production of a quality text) presented in these comments and correction grid appear in the on-line environment and in what way; for this stage of the research, video classes from schools aimed at preparing for these tests, present on YouTube (Stoodi, Me Salva and Oficina Resolve) were analyzed. The research investigated two spheres of activity: evaluative, of which the commented tests and the correction grid of the referred institutions are taken as object of study, and didactic-pedagogical, whose object of analysis was a group of video classes, in the on-line environment. Results show that, some linguistic and textual aspects pointed out in the comments and in the correction grid, condition the evaluator's “look” for the writing developed in the entrance exam, such as: thematic proposal, reading of the source texts, suitability for the cultured rules of language, discourse genre, authorship and thematic progression, thus constituting recurrent parameters of evaluation in the analyzed institutions. In the video classes, these aspects are updated, at the standard and understanding of the teachers, giving new themes and meaning effects for the production of a quality text. The analyzes also reveal that the discourses of these spheres echo, reframing, the official documents and seeking to develop more effective reading and writing practices in the teaching / learning of text. This work uses, for the qualitative and interpretative analysis, the Bakhtinian concepts of dialogue, concrete statement, discourse genre, sphere of activity, ideology and theme and meaning for the active responsive understanding of the discourses learned in the corpus.
