Abstract

This dissertation analyzes the relationship between the process of productive restructuring and illness at work in a textile factory, in the city of Auriflama, in the inland of the state of São Paulo. The problem studied was analyzed in the light of the working conditions and health of workers at the textile factory Ares Confecções, which reproduces international trends in flexibility and intensification of work. Thus, the causes, characteristics and consequences of working conditions are analyzed based, especially in semi-structured interviews with workers and sick workers, as well as oral reports. We address the consequences of working conditions on the health of male and female workers sector textile clothing, highlighting their painful character of physical and mental exhaustion that contributes to illnesses, especially for female workers.
