Abstract

Social Museology, coming from the New Museology, democratizes the museal spaces, expanding the ways of thinking and making museums, expanding and qualifying the participations, decolonizing the museological thought and the museal praxis, bringing public stories and memories overshadowed, silenced and erased by official history. The research aimed to understand, theoretically and methodologically, how a community museum is organized in contexts where it is necessary for the reaffirmation and visibility of groups and social segmentations. The empirical reality addressed involves the settlements of the municipality of Rosana (SP). From it, we theorize about the processes of constitution of community museums, considering the principles of participation, self-determination and selfmanagement in a local, historical, social and cultural context that comprises a museal circumstance constitutive of the proposed discussion. The bibliographic research dealt with key questions about New Museology, Social Museology and community museums and, in view of the intrinsic participation of the researcher in the process by the method of collaboration. We interacted by the method of collaboration with thirteen based through activities carried out by WhatsApp, due to the impediments caused by COVID-19. The dissertation is the joint construction between the researcher and those based on respect for the understanding and role of the museum for the collectives involved in the control of their cultural heritage, considering sovereignty and autonomy. The research contributes to the reflexivity in museology, with theoretical and methodological discussions and deepening of discussions on Social Museology, in view of the complexity of collaboration and the articulating role of the researcher inserted in the process with full participation of people based in the decision process of his museum.
