Abstract

In recent decades, information has assumed an important role in the construction of social structures and power relations, directly influencing the economy, work and the various forms of sociability. The internet and digital technologies make it possible to expand information and provide mechanisms for the action of various social actors who communicate directly with public opinion, and this process is even more intense in digital social networks. Studies show the importance of communication and, in particular, digital communication for accessing information and building citizenship, since militancy for civil, political and social rights requires, first, that they be known and recognized. In this scenario, social movements are the main actors in the process of mobilizing civil society in favor of their rights and Communication, a relevant field to legitimize their demands and actions. Thus, this research focused on the relationship between digital communication and access to information, especially information related to the rights of women who, historically organized around the feminist movement, militate for the most diverse rights in our society. The general objective of the investigation was to reflect on the communication dynamics and its impact on the dissemination of information on women's rights in the digital environment. Specifically, it was intended to estimate the relevance of the internet, its limitations and potential in the dissemination of information for and about the feminist movement, and on women's rights; understand the dynamics and performance of social movements that fight for women's rights in the online environment; and, based on the examples of Movimento Mulher 360 and Movimento de Mulheres Camponesas, to analyze online information about women's rights, based on content published on their respective social networks. In order to structure these objectives, the Depth Hermeneutics was chosen, a methodological approach that seeks to understand, historically, the structures and relations of power, applied here to the communicational products that will be analyzed. Together, Content Analysis was used through a quali-quantitative approach, to understand and interpret the publications of these women's movements on the social networks of Facebook, Instagram and their respective stories. Finally, it was understood that promoting information about rights is insufficient to think about citizenship as a whole, but as seen, access to information and its ability to generate awareness of a problematic situation is the first stage for this. Thus, this study was relevant to reflect on digital communication as a way to expand Brazilian democracy through the dissemination of information, as well as to highlight the challenges to be overcome and the recognition of the need for multiple efforts to do so.
