Abstract

Our objective in this research is to present a reading of the concept of recognition in the Phenomenology of Spirit centered on the figures o the \"spirit\" and not on the \"self-consciousness\". This means, in other words, to take recognition not only as a relation between singular \"I\'s\" but, as Hegel says in defining the spirit, a relation of recognition between \"I\" and \"We\". The realization of this recognition is presented in Phenomenology as a succession of historical \"forms of life,\" the last of these figures of the spirit dedicated to the discussion of Kantian and Romantic morality. Here, the process of recognition would reach its highest level, which Hegel calls forgiveness. It is this form of recognition that we intend to analyze in more depth, in order to understand what it implies for the understanding of the concept of recognition in the Phenomenology. (AU)
