Abstract

This dissertation aims to ponder on the existing urban iconographies in the documentary collection of the Philosophical Journey through the Captaincies of Grão- Pará, Rio Negro, Mato Grosso and Cuiabá (1783-1792), coordinated by the luso- brazilian naturalist Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira. In addition to this, an exercise of spatialization and georeferencing of these images on a cartographic basis is proposed, in order to be able to compare different documentary typologies of the time that dealt with the highlighted region. Thus constituting a comparison between the various documentary typologies, interpreted in the light of an landscape archaeology, aiming to contribute to the broad discussion on the subject. (AU)
