Abstract

Climate change has caused many challenges to humanity. In Brazil, specifically in agriculture, prolonged periods of drought have caused considerable losses in production and, consequently an increase in price for the final consumer. An alternative to this adversity in agricultural production is irrigation, however, it can be costly, cause conflicts, and consume the little existing water resource. Therefore, water must be used wisely, that is, only when necessary. To meet this demand, this doctoral thesis proposes to contribute with tools for the remote sensing of soil moisture made by unmanned aerial vehicle in irrigated agriculture. The semi-quantitative analysis is performed by software, relating irradiation collection with soil moisture and allowing for metered irrigation. We set up a prototype where we built the physical structure of the UAV as well as its energy source, the electronic flight circuits based on embedded systems and finally the software for image analysis and irrigation control. The mechanical structure was performed by resin composite, and a câmera captured the images for infrared image acquisition (AU)
