Abstract

The present work studies the aspects of formulation and numerical response of viscoelastic and elasto-viscoplastic constitutive models for structural analysis. Based on the Rheology of mterials some concepts related to one dimensional basic rheologic elements and its combinations are reviewed, with prominence on the so called Elasto-viscoplastic arrangement of OWEN/HINTON. In the sequence, a new Elasto-viscoplastic arrangement is proposed, which allows reproduce the model of OWEN/HINTON and the primary and secundary creeps as particular cases . Its numerical response in one dimensional domain, is studied through the analysis of bars structures. The combined formulations studied previously are extended to make possible plane states analysis, being applied in some examples suggested in the literature . The potencialities presented by the new model allov to suggest its application on what concerns to civil engineering study concrete structures and particular problems of soil-structure interation, like tunnel excavation.
