Abstract
In this dissertation, we study symmetric Killing tensors defined on two families of Riemannian Lie groups: the 2-step nilpotents and the almost abelian groups. For the first, we examine in detail the article "Symmetric Killing Tensors on Nilmanifolds" by V. del Barco and A. Moroianu, in which the authors characterize the 2-symmetric Killing tensors in this context and determine when such tensors are decomposable. For the second family, we characterize the symmetric Killing p-tensors and show that they are all decomposable (AU)
