Abstract

This study, carried out from a field research between 2008 and 2009, aims to present the implications in the process of increasing contact between the Indian of Apinajé / TO institutions and non-indigenous agents. The approach of the relevant aspects to that process has the backdrop of the debate about the issue ethnodevelopment. The work takes into account as well as increased contact and influence the surrounding society, social change arising through the interaction with the inter-ethnic urban and capitalist world. In this context stand out as themes: economic sustainability projects in process in the area, the development projects under construction in the region of the state of Tocantins and the consequent threat to the territorial integrity of the indigenous population, access to welfare policies and the process of addiction economic and other issues that make up the current multiethnic setting (AU)
